Add Page Numbers to PDF

Adding page numbers to a PDF is a fundamental task used to improve document organization, navigation, and professional presentation. Whether you are finalizing an academic paper, a business report, or a legal filing, the FluxToolkit Page Numbering tool allows you to inject sequential numbers directly into the PDF pages exactly where you want them.

How to Add Page Numbers

  1. Click Upload PDF or drag and drop your document onto the tool.
  2. In the Settings Panel, choose which pages to apply the numbers to. You can number All Pages, Skip the First Page (perfect for cover pages), or define a Custom Range.
  3. Customize the Format. You can use raw numbers, or use our smart tags: e.g., Page {n} of {total}.
  4. Select the Position by clicking one of the six grid buttons (Top/Bottom, Left/Center/Right).
  5. Fine-tune the appearance by adjusting the Font Size, Text Color, and Margin (distance from the edge of the page).
  6. Click Download PDF to instantly apply the numbers and save the file.

Common Use Cases

Academic & Professional Reports: It is a standard expectation for formal documents to have page numbers. It demonstrates attention to detail and allows reviewers to easily reference specific sections.

Combining Multiple Documents: When merging several individual PDF files into one master document, users add sequential page numbers afterward to ensure the entire collection has a unified, logical order.

Ease of Reference & Citation: In academic, research, or legal contexts, page numbers are essential for accurate citations and cross-referencing, allowing readers to pinpoint exact passages.

Fixing "Broken" Exports: Some PDFs exported from older software or created via desktop scanners may lack inherent page numbering. Adding them after the fact is a common way to restore document structure.

Privacy & Security

We use a high-performance, client-side PDF engine. This means that the text injection process happens entirely using your computer's resources. Your document is never uploaded, stored, or processed on external servers, ensuring maximum privacy for confidential documents.
