JPG, PNG, WEBP — Any photo works

The Passport Photo Resizer is a free browser-based tool that converts any photograph to the exact pixel dimensions required for official passport, visa, and identity document applications — without uploading your image to any server.

Why Passport Photo Dimensions Matter

Each country's passport authority specifies precise photo dimensions, background requirements, and file size limits for online applications. Submitting a photo that does not meet these specifications can cause immediate rejection of your application. This tool handles the pixel math for you, applying a centre-crop algorithm so your face stays centred in the frame regardless of the original photo's aspect ratio.

Supported Country Presets

India (35×45mm): Required for Indian Passport Seva, VISA applications, and most government examination forms (UPSC, SSC, railway recruitment).

USA & Canada (51×51mm / 2×2 inches): The US Department of State requires 2×2 inch photos (51×51mm) for all US passport and visa applications.

United Kingdom (35×45mm): UK passports, BRP cards, and driving licence applications require 35mm wide × 45mm tall photos.

EU / Schengen (35×45mm): All Schengen visa applications require 35×45mm photos. This covers travel documents for all 27 Schengen Area countries.

Australia (35×45mm): Australian passport and citizenship applications use the standard 35×45mm format.

UAE (40×60mm): UAE residency visa and Emirates ID applications require a taller 40×60mm photo format.

DPI and Resolution

The tool lets you choose the output DPI (dots per inch). At 300 DPI — the standard for print-quality photos — a 35mm wide photo becomes 413 pixels wide, which is the specification expected by most embassy online portals. Lower DPIs (72–96) produce smaller files suitable for digital form uploads with strict file size limits.

Centre-Crop Algorithm

When your photo has a different aspect ratio than the target size, the tool automatically crops from the centre. This keeps your face centred in the output without distorting the image. Unlike a simple resize that stretches photos, the centre-crop maintains natural proportions.

Privacy and Security

Your photo never leaves your device. All image processing happens using the browser's built-in Canvas API. This is critical for passport photos, which contain biometric data and should not be uploaded to third-party servers.
