The Attendance Calculator is a free online student tool that tells you exactly where you stand with your class attendance in seconds. Enter the classes you have attended, the total held, and your target percentage — the tool instantly shows your current standing, how many classes you can still afford to miss, or how many consecutive classes you need to attend to recover.

Why Attendance Percentage Matters

Most universities and colleges enforce a minimum attendance requirement — commonly 75% — to be eligible for examinations. Falling below this threshold can lead to debarment from final exams, forfeiture of grades, or mandatory repeat of a semester. Knowing your exact standing gives you the power to plan smarter.

How the Attendance Calculator Works

The tool runs three core calculations instantly as you type:

Current Attendance % = (Classes Attended ÷ Total Classes Held) × 100

Classes You Can Still Skip — If you are already above your target, this formula calculates how many future classes you can afford to miss while still staying at or above the threshold. The formula solves: Attended ÷ (Total + x) ≥ Target%, yielding x = floor(Attended × (100/Target) − Total).

Classes You Must Attend — If you are below your target, this tells you how many consecutive future classes you must attend without missing a single one. Solved from: (Attended + x) ÷ (Total + x) = Target%.

Status Indicators

The tool uses a colour-coded system so you can see your situation at a glance:

  • Green (On Track): Your attendance is at or above the target.
  • Amber (Borderline): You are below target but within 10 percentage points.
  • Red (Critical Shortage): You are more than 10 percentage points below the required threshold.

Common Attendance Targets

  • 75% — The most widely used minimum across Indian universities (UGC guidelines).
  • 80% — Common in engineering colleges and technical institutions.
  • 85% — Required by some medical and pharmacy colleges.
  • 60% — Used in some distance-learning and open-university programmes.

The quick-select buttons let you switch between these in one click.

Tips for Managing Your Attendance

Plan ahead by checking your attendance status at the beginning of each week. If you are borderline, prioritise attending subjects where you are closest to the threshold. Use the tool to simulate future scenarios — if you have exams coming up and need to take three days off, check in advance whether your attendance can absorb that absence.
