The CGPA to Percentage Calculator is a free student tool that converts your Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) into an equivalent percentage using the official formula for your university — and converts back from percentage to CGPA as well.

What Is CGPA?

CGPA stands for Cumulative Grade Point Average. It is a standardised grading system used by most Indian universities on a 10-point scale. Each subject's grade is converted to a grade point, multiplied by the credit hours for that subject, summed, and divided by total credits to produce the CGPA. The system makes it easier to compare academic performance across subjects with different difficulty levels and credit weightings.

Why Convert CGPA to Percentage?

Many employers, government job applications, scholarship programmes, and foreign universities still require candidates to specify their academic score as a percentage. Since no universal conversion formula exists across all Indian universities, using the wrong formula can lead to discrepancies in job applications. This calculator applies the formula specific to your university.

Supported University Scales

VTU (Visvesvaraya Technological University): Percentage = CGPA × 9.5. This is the formula officially recommended by VTU for converting CGPA issued on the 10-point scale.

Anna University: Percentage = (CGPA × 10) − 0.75. Anna University recommends this formula for its affiliated engineering colleges across Tamil Nadu.

KTU (Kerala Technological University / APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University): Percentage = CGPA × 10.

Mumbai University: Percentage = (CGPA × 7.25) + 11. This formula is specified by Mumbai University for its grading system.

Custom Multiplier: If your university uses a different conversion formula, enter your own multiplier for an instant result.

Grade Classification

After conversion, the tool classifies your result into a standard grade band: Outstanding (90%+), Excellent (80–89%), Very Good (70–79%), Good (60–69%), Average (50–59%), Pass (40–49%), or Fail (below 40%).

Bidirectional Conversion

The tool supports both directions — CGPA to Percentage and Percentage to CGPA — making it useful when you know a percentage requirement (such as "55% minimum" for a scholarship) and need to find the equivalent CGPA threshold.
